The following peaks were removed in 1997 since they were considered sub peaks of other mountains:

In 1997, the following changes were made:
Cattail Peak & Mt. Hardison were removed.
Tennent Mtn. and Mt. Hallback were added.

Clingman's Peak was replaced by Mt. Gibbes, since Clingman's Peak is fenced in, with No Trespassing allowed. Tri-corner Knob and Yonaguska were combined as Tri-corner Knob/Yonaguska because both have the same elevation and are close to each other.  (These changes were made to make SB6K consistent with other programs criteria, like the New England 4000 program)

All the information you need in your quest of the 40 peaks can be accessed and printed from the Carolina Mountain Club website:  Background Information, Membership Requirements, Ascent Record, Approval Form, Selected Approved Routes, Maps, and GPS Routes.
